From Lee McArthur - Principal
Kia ora whānau,
The last two weeks have been action packed!
A highlight has been the visit from Te Ahi Ora. Jordan and Tom worked with all the year 3-6 classes and then performed for the Year 1 and 2 classes. They were such lovely guys working alongside our tamariki and gently encouraging them to develop their physical skills and confidence. They were impressive young men.
Of course the real highlight was the addition of the fire on Tuesday evening. 🔥 Jordan and Tom were so impressed with our children, and said on several occasions they were the most well mannered and focussed children they had worked with - and they have worked all around New Zealand schools. They also complemented Michelle Meaclem for her exact planning and preparation. Michelle has all the attributes needed to be a wonderful sports coordinator and we are so lucky to have her. It was a lovely evening to get together.
Many thanks to the PTA for organising the Sausage sizzle, to the ASB for their BBQ loan and a special shout out to Karl Fisher, for supplying the sausages (along with Westmeats) and going beyond what is described as "flipping the snags". All money raised is going towards our landscaping. Thank you to the mums and dads for supporting us with these events.
The total money raised was just over $1,450 - Yippee!
The theme of our school seems to be fabulous children who are well mannered, respectful and who are always keen to give new things a go.
The JOLT dance company spent 4 days in our school recently, running dance workshops with each class. For those of you that are new to JOLT, it is a dance company that comes into our school and teaches our children dance. It is a joy to see your beautiful, enthusiastic, inclusive children listening and learning and dancing alongside the JOLT crew. They love it! We can all feel proud of being a school community that celebrates diversity. ❤
🌾Our non uniform day raised $767 for the Cancer Society's Daffodil Day. We all know people that have been diagnosed with cancer and in our own kura we have several families going through this journey, so it is with much love that we support this Daffodil Day.
Production practice is well under way. The cast is busy rehearsing and the classes are booming with music as they finesse their performances. Tickets are on sale now, so please be sure to get your initial tickets before Monday, as we will look to extend the limit on Monday morning.
It is all go round here - and it's the way we love it!
Have a happy and relaxing weekend, and a special shout out to all the Dad's on Father's Day!
Lee
