Basketball

Our 4 basketball teams had their first games this week at Pioneer Stadium.  Exciting to get the season under way with lots of learning happening on court.  Some great results for week one - with 2 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss for our teams.  It will be cool to watch the teams develop and progress through the season.  Thanks to our wonderful coaches for taking our teams; Sunia Halaifonua, Hamish Drummond, Viv Gribben and Julie Watson.  We wish our teams the best of luck and look forward to hearing about the games each week. See some court action below in our gallery.

Friday Winter Sport

Children are excited, sports uniforms have been issued and Hagley Friday sport begins on 28 May.  Children in Hagley sport teams are to wear their sport uniform to school on a Friday (no matter the weather)

Our children will bus to Hagley at 12.30pm and games will begin at 1.15pm.  If you are coming to watch the teams, sports maps and draws will be  available to view on the sports page of our school website.  We wish our seven teams lots of fun, play well, develop skills, and always show sportsmanship to everyone at every game.

Note - There are no games on Friday 4 June (Teacher Only Day).

We would like to thank all our coaches for giving us their time to train teams and assist on a Friday so our children get the opportunity to play competitive school sport.  Thanks to Graham O'Neill, Simon Panckhurst, Brent Archer, Juanita Cox, Karen Martin, Jules McNally, Tess Haig, Hamish Drummond, Jess Holt, Wendy Dent, and Sunia Halaifonua.  Thank you coaches for making a positive impact on our children, much appreciated.

Children in our Koroī team who are not in our sports teams will also be having a fun afternoon back at school.  They have a variety of sport options, box construction, creative art and a football academy happening.  Yay for Fridays, we hope the sun shines every week.

South West Zone Cross Country

Good luck to our children who have continued to train hard since our school Cross Country, and will be heading off to the South West Zone Cross Country on Tuesday 1 June at the Halswell Quarry.

The children will be competing against other children from our zone in the 2km event, we hope for mild conditions and no frost under foot. Thank you to parents who are helping transport our team to the Quarry.

Our Zone team - Eli P, Max P Isaac B, Poppy A, Emma G, Rebecca B, Luc N, Brax L, Nathaniel H, Eden M, Skyla S, and Lily S -  Go Hoon Hay Te Kura Kōaka!

Football Skills

Stu & Liam from Halswell United Football Club came in for an afternoon last week to work with our Koroī team.  137 children taking part in football skills on the school field, including a variety of drills and some small sided games, lots of fun in the sunshine.  Thank you Halswell United.
