From Lee McArthur - Principal
Kia ora whanau,
Where does the time go? 😯
Today we have shifted the Koroī tamariki into the new building. This has been quite an exercise as I am sure you can imagine. However, they are in now and it looks great. Next year we will have a belated opening ceremony so you can have a good look around and judge for yourself. We think it is fabulous and will work well.
Please see some more photos below :-)
This afternoon we are also moving Mata Whanaunga from their rooms into the hall and the empty Koroī rooms to allow for the renovation of the Mata Whanaunga block to begin.
- Mata Whanaunga 1 will move to the old Room 21
- Mata Whanaunga 2 will move to the old Room 20
- Mata Whanaunga 3 will move to the kitchen end of the hall
This renovation is expected to take about a term, all going well, and then they will move back to beautifully renovated classrooms. Then it will be Kūkupa’s turn.
We do know all of this moving around is not ideal. We plan so that it is a sense of adventure rather than a pain, knowing that the end result will be stunning and, quite frankly, long overdue.
We are expecting that the whole school will be renovated by the end of 2022 - fingers crossed.
Staffing 2022
Our appointments for next year have been made and we can share the organisation for 2022 with you. Sadly, we are farewelling some staff. Hamish Drummond is taking a year's leave of absence in 2022 and will be returning in 2023. Cameron Russell has won a permanent position at Springston School and Wendy Dent is retiring from teaching.
We will miss all of these staff very much as they have been the most wonderful colleagues and we wish them all the very best.
