Basketball

Our basketball season has been an interesting one with no spectators and quiet stadiums, however the children have had a blast on court. Our 4 teams have been learning and improving each week, with results showing on the score board. Our teams are now into semi-final and final playoffs in the competition and we wish them all the best - Go Hoon Hay, Te Kura Kōaka, sink those hoops!  Final season games will be played on Wednesday 23 September.  As our city moves to AL1 at midnight tonight (Monday), spectators will be allowed into watch the last game of the season and make lots of noise. Check out our teams below in the gallery.

We ask if all basketball uniforms can be washed and cleaned and returned to Mrs Meaclem on Friday 25 September if possible.  Your assistance with this would be greatly appreciated as these uniforms need to go back out to our touch teams.

Central Winter Tournament

After a few delays, the Winter tournament is now taking place on Thursday 24 September.  We wish Netball Red and the Taniwha's the best of luck at tournament. These 2 teams have been training hard and we hope good results come their way on the day. They will be playing schools from all across Canterbury hoping to take the overall win. Games are played between 11am - 2.30pm at South Hagley.  We thank the parents who are transporting the children to Hagley Park for us.

Athletics

With Spring weather, comes mown grass and sprint track lines.  Legends children have begun practising high jump, long jump, discus, shot put and sprints. The Legends athletics will be held over two mornings on week 1 of term 4.

Parents are welcome to come and watch the events.  Ribbons will be presented for all events after the track events on Wednesday.  We will be selecting children from our athletics days to represent the school at the South West Zone Athletics on the 5 November.

Team Koru and Mighty Minnows teams will be holding their Athletic days in November.  More information will come home regarding their dates.

Touch Rugby Teams

A big shout out to the wonderful parents and teachers who have put their hand up to coach a touch rugby team in term 4 for us. Thanks to; Blair Sang, Leigh Downes, Annette Radford, Greta van den Heever, Andrea O'Neill, Esther Panckhurst, Rachel Charman, Rae Stewart, Brent Archer, Helen Barclay, Kirsten Turner, Kelsi O'Neill and Viv Gribben. This has enabled us to place every child in Years 4,5,6 who wished to play touch rugby, into a team.  We are entering 9 teams this season at Centennial Park - Ka Pai

Your child will be coming home with a notice to confirm which team they are in.  They will be given a sports top to wear for the games, which they can wear with their blue school shorts.  Payment of fees can be made via our school shop.  Payment is required before the first games kick off on the 22 October.
