On Saturday May 21st we held an official open day for our Dukes Road Crematorium inviting the public to join us from 1-3pm to demystify the processes around death, funerals and cremation.
Managing Funeral Director, Michael Hope JP welcomed everyone to the celebration.
We were pleased to have Bishop, the Rt Rev Dr Kelvin Wright and Kai Tahu Kaumatua, Edward Ellison attend our open day to unveil the plaque and plant the Kowhai tree.
We opened to the public from 1-3pm and over 200 people from the Mosgiel, Dunedin and wider community joined us to celebrate the official opening of Dukes Road Crematorium.
"It's not often one gets to attend the opening of a Crematorium so this morning's dedication Ceremony at Hope and Sons' Dukes Road Crematorium was quite unique. The Hopes have been helping families at their most vulnerable time for over 130 years. Thank you." - Michael Woodhouse MP
