With the Hope and Sons Art Awards 2016 theme of "Reflections of who we are" we were inspired to ask some of our staff to give their own personal reflections.
This is what Funeral Directors, John Finlayson and Nicky Third had to say:
“It is important to try to maintain a good work to leisure-time balance. I value being part of the Team at Hope and Sons in our care of families and also value the time I can spend with my wife, family and friends.
I enjoy relaxing at our home in Brighton or our place in Twizel, keeping in touch with our children and doing some DIY.
I especially like boating, fishing, biking, and walking, particularly in the Mackenzie Country, and playing golf.
I am involved with Musical theatre and love to travel.”- John Finlayson, Funeral Director
“I enjoy spending time with family and friends (especially my children and 10 month old granddaughter), photography, motorcycling, sailing, I get a lot of satisfaction out of helping people and organisations who are there to serve the community and so I am a volunteer for St John, Brighton SLSC, Dunedin Marine SAR, Spirit of Adventure Trust. As part of my photography hobby, landscapes and sunsets/sunrises are a particular favourite which gives me a great excuse to be out enjoying this beautiful country that we live in. Being honest, friendly, helpful, kind and compassionate to all, regardless of who you are or where you come from is important to me and so is being honest to yourself and striving to be the best in everything that you do.” - Nicky Third, Funeral Director
Hope and Sons are contemporary yet respectful of tradition, being a five generation funeral family caring for the Dunedin, Mosgiel, and Otago communities.
