Hopes' timely donation of over $7,000 to the Orokonui Ecosanctuary

Megan Te Amo —

Michael Hope (Managing Funeral Director) proudly presents general manager Chris Baillie from the Orokonui Ecosanctuary a cheque for $7,125.00

A few weeks ago the Orokonui Ecosanctuary was affected by an estimated 230 millimeters of rain-fall. The large volume of water resulted in damage to three sections of the predator-proof fence, and several small slips.

Thankfully staff and volunteers pulled together to prevent fatal damage.

Yesterday Michael Hope from Hope and Sons Funeral Directors visited the Ecosanctuary and proudly presented a donation of over $7,000 to the wildlife reserve.

Hope and Sons have been on-going supporters of the Orokonui Ecosanctuary since 2009 and this brings total donations to $110,500.

Orokonui Ecosanctuary is the flagship biodiversity project for the South Island where multiple species of plants and animals are protected from predators. A predator fence surrounds 307 hectares of Coastal Otago forest, pests have been removed, habitat enhanced with weed control and planting, and many rare and endangered species re-introduced. - The Orokonui Story, www.orokonui.co.nz
