The Hope and Sons Art Awards 2016 theme was Reflections of who we are. Gemma Baldock, of Dunedin, won second place with her piece entitled - Beneath the Surface.

Gemma Baldock is a working artist in Dunedin, New Zealand. She graduated from the Dunedin School of Art in 2015, with a Bachelor of Visual Art majoring in Painting.

Gemma uses collage as her main palette; drawing each element onto hand-made textured papers and tissue - cut out and carefully pieced together. Final details are added with paint; facial features, shadows and patterns.

Gemma was announced the second place winner at a private Otago Art Society event on Friday 29th April. The second place prize for the Hope and Sons Art Awards 2016 was $2000.

The Hope and Sons Art Awards exhibition is open to the public from Saturday 30th April - Sunday 29th May. 30% of all sale proceeds go to the Otago Art Society. 

We have been proud supporters and sponsors of this event since 1998.  

Hope and Sons are contemporary yet respectful of tradition, being a five generation funeral family caring for the Dunedin, Mosgiel, and Otago communities.
