Hope and Sons Funeral Directors — May 20, 2016

Dukes Road Crematorium will be officially opened on Saturday May 21 2016 by Bishop, the Rt Rev Dr Kelvin Wright and Kai Tahu kaumatua Edward Ellison.

Dukes Road Crematorium is located on a 1 hectare site in North Taieri. It has easy access over Three Mile Hill and through Gordon Road, Mosgiel.

The landscaping provides privacy and seclusion for the premises. Visitors will enjoy the peaceful and tranquil surroundings.

From 1.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. the facility is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

The park-like setting has been beautifully designed and will provide grassed areas, tree-clad hillocks, an outside terrace, and parking. The beginnings of a new sculpture park already include commissioned work by Southland sculptor Rod Hall - Stag and Hind feeding.

The front field has been planted with thousands of daffodils and will be a real picture in the spring-time.

There is no provision for a large Chapel on-site but some families may follow the hearse to the Kowhai Lounge. Kowhai will be reflected in the planting of native Kowhai among the 45 trees, the new Kohwai logo, and some beautiful Kowhai artwork.

Dukes Road Crematorium provides cremations exclusively to approved funeral directors Hope and Sons and Dignity Funeral Services.

Hope and Sons are contemporary yet respectful of tradition, being a five generation funeral family caring for the Dunedin, Mosgiel, and Otago communities.
