Wishing Our Teachers Well as They Return Home
Mr Johnson will be moving back to the UK at the end of Term 1 and Mrs Nieuwenhaus will return to Canada with her family at the end of Term 2.
Mr. Johnson and Mrs. Nieuwenhaus will be leaving New Zealand to return to their respective home countries. We wish both teachers all the best as they reunite with family and begin their new journeys.
Haere rā Mr Roushan Johnson
Mr Johnson has decided to return home to the UK and be with his family. He has been with Horizon for over two years, and during that time, he has played a key role in supporting our college students in the 2024 EVolocity competition. His efforts and involvement will be valued by both students and staff. We appreciate the contributions he has made to our school community, and we wish him all the best as he embarks on this new chapter.
The process for filling Roushan's role is already underway, and we will announce his replacement in due course.
Haere rā Mrs Simone Nieuwenhaus
Simone and her husband have chosen to return to Canada to be closer to family, and as a result, Simone will be stepping down from her role as the teacher of the Explorers class at the end of Term 2. We are deeply grateful for the time Simone has spent with us as a primary Kaiako. Her passion, dedication, and care for her students have helped shape their growth, and we wish Simone and her family all the best in this exciting next chapter of their lives.
We will be advertising Simone’s role soon, and we are confident that we will find a fitting educator to take over from her. If you know anyone who might be interested, please feel free to get in touch with Caroline Smith at caroline@horizon.school.nz.
We have also farewelled Molly Foster this week, our talented part-time Teacher Aide. Molly is continuing her passion for music, touring Europe and performing at several music festivals. We wish her all the best as she pursues her music journey. We are excited to welcome Luke Chapman, who has joined us as Molly's replacement. We look forward to the great work he'll do with our team!
