Student Representative
Meet Shavaun Langdon the newly elected student representative for the Board of Trustees.
This is what Shavaun wrote about herself in her Candidate Voting Information:
My name is Shavaun and I’m a Year 12 in Horizon School. I am running for a position on the school's board as the student representative. I am currently a part of our Student Council and have been for a few years. While being part of the Student Council I have contributed to a number of school run events, and helped to implement the more relaxed uniform rules for the seniors. I think I would be good at being the Board's Student Representative because I want to gain a student voice and act on it because there's not enough pathways for student opinions to be conveyed. I want to help Horizon to become a school which the students enjoy attending, this is why I am a part of the Student Council and would like to be a part of the School’s Board as well. After coming to Horizon for the majority of my school life, I have witnessed the school change in a multitude of ways but I still think that most students, especially in the college, still have ideas that they want to put forward. I want the school staff to be aware of what opportunities the students would like to have at Horizon, for example, more sports teams, music lessons, study pathways and I am happy to hear feedback from students and bring those thoughts into meetings.
We congratulate Shavaun on her successful election and look forward to her contribution to our school leadership.
