2023 CROSS COUNTRY

Horizon Sport —

Mud, fun , ice blocks and more mud....

In a week where we have experienced on going wet weather and more illness than we could have imagined, it was wonderful to see the students spirits were not dampened. The small number of Staff and Students still on site by Friday afternoon rallied together to create an exciting atmosphere for our 2023 Cross Country.  The sun came out and our pupils all the way from Year 0 to Year 10 participated eagerly in their races.  Thank you to our college students who assisted with organising and planning our event as part of their NCEA Sport assessments.

Thank you also to our supportive whānau and friends who joined in the races or cheered from the side.

We apologise some of you may have missed your child's race as we made a last minute call to start a few races early, which will have been disappointing - this was so our little learners could avoid the rain.

We don't know if it was because we had less pupils at school, due to so much sickness this week, or because everyone has been training so hard; but each race was finished much faster than in previous years.

Well done to Mr A for his organisation and Ashlee for co-ordinating and supplying the ice blocks at the finish line. It's always a really successful event in the Horizon sporting calendar.

What a first race for some of our new entrants, who took to the field with enthusiasm and finished, covered in mud and glory. Nothing like an ice block on a cold, damp afternoon to celebrate!
