About the artist: Shanna, a talented wildlife artist originally from South Africa, has developed a deep love and appreciation for fauna, inspired by her experiences in the bush. Specialising in wildlife, particularly big cats, Shanna’s work has earned her numerous awards and recognition both locally and internationally.

In her art, Shanna aims to convey a sense of uniqueness in each piece, inviting viewers to linger and explore the intricate details. Inspired by Romans 1:20, which speaks of how God’s creation is a clear testament to His existence, Shanna humbly acknowledges that while she cannot replicate God’s work, she strives to honor it through her art.

About the artwork: “Tui” was selected for the “Contemporary New Zealand Art Calendar” from a pool of over 500 entries. The calendar is currently being sold in both the North and South Island as well as Australia. Tui measures 450mm x 750mm and is on museum quality canvas with professional light fast paint.

“The beauty of the tui bird is that even in colourful, varied flora, it still stands out with all its glorious feathers. It was the first bird I saw when I landed in New Zealand and has always invoked a special memory for me.”
