Years 5/6 Discoverers Team Update: Term 4 Adventures in Nature, Beauty, and Learning

Exploring New Zealand’s ngahere and manu, delving into faith, creativity, and a wide range of academic subjects.

The Discoverers have been thoroughly enjoying our Term 4 theme of New Zealand native ngahere (bush) and manu (birds), which has been enriched by our recent walk to the local Donkey Hill Reserve for plant identification, leaf sketching, bird spotting, and lots of walking!

We are so blessed to have such a great resource in our backyard. All of this learning has also tied in beautifully with our Special Character theme of Beauty. We have discussed God's design for beauty, the broken beauty in our world, and the beautiful exchange of our brokenness for salvation through Christ. We have also been diving into subtraction, statistics, structured literacy, procedural writing, and even a splash of poetry.

Needless to say, our bodies and brains have been very active so far this term. Please come in and check out your child's lovely art—our rooms are filled with their creativity! Nau mai, haere mai, whanau.
