Sports Report - Term 2

Kana Shedlock- Whiu —

Winter has arrived!! Our Winter Sports programme is now halfway through week 5. All teams have started the season strong in playing Friday night basketball & Wednesday afternoon competitions.

I'm pleased to announce we have entered 11 Hornby High School Sports teams in the Canterbury Secondary Sports Competition.

A warm welcome to ex Hornby High School student Jordana Falconer who has been appointed Head Coach of the Senior Girls' Whelan Basketball team

The Senior Boys' Football team has kicked off the season on a winning streak, coached by teacher Mr Heath. Well done team. Keep up the good work.

Hornby High School Senior Boys' Thomson Basketball team report. So far this season, the Senior Basketball Thompson Trophy team have been doing well. Our team currently has 3 wins and 1 loss, losing our very first game. Personally, I think the first game was the most challenging I have played during this season, this is because the team was relatively new and the players were still in the process of understanding each other and how we each play. Although the team lost the first game, we didn’t really think too much about it and just focused on what we needed to improve on to play better for the next game. To be better prepared for the upcoming games, the team has been training hard which has allowed us to start forming closer bonds with each other. I believe that if we continue to aim to get better after every game and work hard on our training, the boys would be able to take on stronger opponents.
