This year's student team 'cranking it out'

The Hornby High School electric bike is under way. The 'electric race' team is in good spirits! And we are happy to report that all team members still have 10 fingers!

The team, with the expert support and guidance of mentor Rod Stuart and staff member Mr Sam Tisch, is creating an electric bike that will, later this year, be put to the test on the race track against bike designs from students at other kura.

This is one of many activities at Te Huruhuru Ao o Horomaka Hornby High School that activate student learning driven by our vision as a centre of creative excellence. Robbie, far right on the header photo, has been involved in previous challenges and brings his own 'mentorship' to the younger members of the team in the finest spirit of tuakakana teina. This is another outstanding example of our 'Learn Create Share' pedagogy, a benefit of mourn work in the Manaiakalani Programme.
