Rowena Clemence —

2018, The year of our big move! How spoilt are we to have a modern space, new computers, beautiful lighting and … the same old desks! Which look surprisingly good when you clean them!

Miss Keene started with us in Term One, went away and had a beautiful baby girl for terms two and three, and then came back with the most wonderful verve for teaching, inspiring us all.

Mr Collins looked after us in the meantime, and was wonderfully professional and inspirational. Mr Collins came to us with experience as a working artist and lecturer in Fine Arts at a tertiary level. We were very lucky and our tamariki enjoyed his dry approach and clever wit.

Whāea Rowena thought maybe it would be a great idea to have some potted plants in the room, has killed two of the five, and almost killed another two, but revived them at the last moment. They will survive the summer, she promises.

Year 13, thank you for your year of crying and intensity with everything other than your work! You will be missed; Q’yana, Alexis, Brandon, Ayla, Pisarl and Christine, make sure you go forward and succeed in everything you do, even if you have to try more than once (which is never a bad thing).

Year 12’s coming into year 13, do not leave everything to the last minute next year and thank you for your organisational skills, they are in fact, remarkable for art students!

Year 11s, we hope you all learned something over the year and enjoyed the course after all the stress. It gets easier.

Year 10’s should be well prepared for 2019, we have seen a lot of work that would not only pass but pass well in level one. Good work.

Year 9’s you were a blur and most of you unfortunately missed out on our new teaching space! Sorry about that, we hope you get to make use of it next year.

Year 8’s Mrs Cairns, Mr Collins and Miss Keene enjoyed getting to know you and nurture your art making skills.

Our best achievement for the year has probably been in establishing our new space as home. It is home now, and will continue to be improved upon with all of your help. Thanks to you all for a wonderful year, bring on 2019.
