HP48Hours

Joanne Clark —

Twenty talented students from Years 9-13 accepted the challenge to create four unique films over the HP48Hours, NZ’s largest guerilla film-making competition 11-13 May.

Simply put, filmmakers have just one weekend to make a short film. Filmmakers don't know what genre (thriller/romance/sci-fi) they will be shooting until the start of the competition. All creativity: writing, shooting, editing and adding a musical soundtrack, must occur within the 48-hour window beginning Friday evening at 7 pm and ending Sunday at 7 pm. To add to the mayhem, they must also include some random elements.” It is a tiring, terrific, tense, challenging weekend!

Carmen Road Academy Films - Out of this World, an alien lands in the school skip!

Hornby Heroes - Across the Galaxy, a tale of star-crossed lovers.

Mana Horomaka - One Last Day on Earth, a sensitive look at making the most of life.

CARR Crew - Machiavelli, a wish movie for politicians.
