Year 10 Dean's report
Kia ora Family, whānau, and caregivers of Year 10. Happy New Year and welcome back to 2024.
As we have started this year off with a bang, it is crazy to think we are almost at the halfway point of term one. At this point of the term, students are all settled in their 2024 classes and we appreciate the patience everyone has had while we have tried to work through all the subject clashes.
Coming up in the calendar we have many things. One of the year's highlights is Athletics day, so make sure you are representing your Kāhui. We have sport trials and new clubs to join as well.
After having the summer off, some students find it hard to get back into the swing of things here at school but I just want to say how impressed I have been with everyone. Their attendance and uniform have been great. By making the effort with these two things, it really makes the difference for everything else here at school. It's like the age old saying “if you focus on the small things, the big things will follow”.
If your child is going to be late, has an appointment or away for the day please contact student reception attendance@hornby.school.nz
Everyone has been super disciplined with our new cell phone rules and I appreciate the effort students have been putting in to ensure they uphold this new rule. With this students are also aware that in order to participate in any extracurricular activities such as sport or to go on any trips they must uphold 85% attendance.
Looking forward to next term please keep in mind that Year 10 camp will happen around mid-end of term 2. The expectation is this is compulsory for all Year 10s and always becomes a highlight of students time at school,
If you ever have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me at ra@hornby.school.nz
Ngā mihi,
