Katrina Keenan —

This year, we gave students the choice of entering the athletics in a competitive environment or a social environment. This worked well, with just on a third of the students competing in the competitive environment and the rest participating socially to gain housepoints for each event they entered.

Due to ground conditions, we had to hold the High Jump competition in the gym while the others ran smoothly outside. The day finished with inter-house relays and then a 'staff versus prefects' relay which was won once again by the staff. The day was a great success and a great atmosphere was created by the student enthusiasm and competitiveness.

Records have been reintroduced to the best of our research and a total of 29 records were broken. Interestingly, we still have a number of records dating back to 40 years. Vicki Lewis still holds the Hornby High School and Canterbury Secondary Schools record she set in 1977 in the Under 14 Girls 100 metres in a time of 12.6 seconds. This is an amazing achievement.

Short results are as follows:

Tournament Champion - Adi Mcgoon

Year 7 Champions - Mikayla Falconer, Axle Briggs Sangalang and Tai Coleman

Year 8 Champions - Genica Chan and Edrian Pineda

Under 14 Champions - Dylan Geldard and Driaan Meintjes

Under 15 Champions - Adi Mcgoon and Jayton Lawrie

Under 16 Champions - Haylee Goodman and Tyler Dempsey

Over 16 Champions - Christina Fifita and Jack Harley

House Placings
