Year 9 Dean's Report

Sarah Handley —

Kia Ora all. Welcome back for another exciting and eventful school term. This kicked off with our students participating in the Stars Community day out.

Students headed out to a local farm to help out and plant trees. Thank you to those students who volunteered to give back, it is wonderful to see you demonstrating our school values in our communities. Hopefully, we will have photos to share in our next update.

Secondly, I would like to acknowledge some of our Year 9 students recent successes. Congratulations go to Tia, Thomas and Michaela for their participation in the interschools Shakespeare competition, and to Shanix for receiving a Mana Horomaka award for his outstanding attitude and leadership skills. It was wonderful to be able to celebrate these students during the final assembly of last term.

I am sure you have noticed, as I certainly have, the increasingly chilly temperatures in the mornings. Please support your learners to be prepared for this by making sure they have a school jersey or jacket as we head into winter. If obtaining these uniform items is an issue, please get in contact with the school to see what arrangements can be made. We continue to focus on ensuring all our students arrive on time and ready to learn and it is pleasing to see the number of late students from Year 9 is dropping. Thank you for supporting us to make this happen.

Lastly, I would like to encourage those who are able to, to come to our fundraising concert on Tuesday 14 May at 6pm, where you will see some of our talented Year 9 students performing alongside the senior music students and staff to raise money for the Hornby families affected by the March 15th shootings. Entry is a donation and we hope to see you there!
