John Minto

John Minto —

Retiring from teaching at the end of this year, John Minto has taught Physics and Science for the last four years at Hornby High School.

John began his teaching career in Auckland in 1978 and has been teaching ever since however has had regular breaks from the classroom, usually to involve himself in political issues along the way. He counts his time at Hornby as a special experience.

"Over the years I've done many different roles in secondary schools and it's been nice to finish back in the classroom. The school has been doing lots of innovation but not losing sight of getting the basics right. I'm pleased to have been part of improving options and life opportunities for the students here."

John begins his retirement with a walk along the length of the country. He will be spending the next five months on Te Araroa, walking from Cape Reinga to Bluff.

"It's a great school to be part of - great students and a very committed staff."
