Model EU
Jared T and Charles R were selected across all students in Year 13 to represent our school at the Model European Union held at Canterbury University over two days.
There were schools from all over New Zealand involved. Jared and Charles were assigned countries to represent at a simulation of the United Nations, where they discussed and debated global issues. Jared was representing Luxembourg and Charles was representing Lithuania. The topic the countries were discussing and debating was called Winds of change: The EU, Climate change and the green Transition.
By attending this event, Jared and Charles gained a greater understanding of international politics, and developed their critical thinking, negotiation, and discussion skills.
With the development of emerging technologies, the role of governments in regulating these new fields of inquiry needs to be considered. Committee sessions and workshops will address topics including Artificial Intelligence, Green Energy and Sustainable Development, giving delegates gain a greater understanding of these developing global issues
Well done to both Jared and Charles for being selected and receiving their badges for attending over two days. Both students are looking at persuing political science and law at university next year. We wish them all the best.Mrs Turner
