Student Council

Katie Tozer —

2019 has been a very busy year for the junior student council. At the start of the year two students from each Year 7 - 10 form class were elected to represent their form class on the junior student council. We met fortnightly to organise events and activities for the students at Hornby High School. The junior student council worked very hard to organise these events and gather student voice.

This year we had a group of students attend the World Vision Youth Conference. These students then worked really hard to organise the World Vision 40 Hour Famine and raise funds for South Sudanese refugee children living in Northern Uganda. We held a movie night fundraiser and a bake sale to boost our funds.

A group of Year 7 and 8 leaders attended the National Young Leaders Day at Horncastle Arena, where they heard from motivational speakers throughout the day and had the chance to connect with students from other schools.

Throughout the year the student council has helped with a number of different events around school including mufti days, the World Vision 40 Hour Famine, an Easter treasure hunt and school clean up events. The junior student council has continued to work with the Greater Hornby Residents’ Association throughout the year, this has provided lots of opportunities for students to connect with the wider community.

Thank you to all students who were a part of the junior student council in 2019. We have got lots of exciting things planned for 2020!
