Stephanie Gray —

2020 has not been the year we had planned! Nevertheless, throughout it all, we loved working with our beautiful smiling rangatahi.

Covid-19 has impacted on us all differently. It has been wonderful to see the Hornby High School community continue to display our school values every day.

Our senior students have worked incredibly hard this year and we wish them well with their external exam results. This year our senior science students were lucky enough to go to the University of Canterbury for Year 12 Physics and Orana Park for Year 13 Biology. Both groups of students were fantastic ambassadors for our school. It was a privilege to receive feedback at how intelligent, insightful, and respectful our students are.

We have had some changes to how our junior students learn science this year, still, the vibe in our Kāhui is one of positive engagement and learning. The highlights from our junior classes this year have been the crazy and varied experiments, which took our new science spaces to the limit!

Throughout this year, our CARR values have truly been demonstrated across all year groups in Science. We very much look forward to a positive 2021.
