It has been an amazing opportunity being a Stars mentor working together with the Year 9 students and getting to know them very well.

I have such an amazing team of Stars mentors that I can work really well with. I have enjoyed spending meaningful time with my class. I know that we have a long way to go but as a team, I believe that we can all make a difference. 

I decided to become a Stars mentor because I wanted to reach out to younger students and make them realize that they all have a place in our kura. It’s sad that I didn’t get to experience the Stars programme myself during Year 9, but as a mentor I can tell that it has an impact on our young people and by stepping out of my comfort zone, led to my own personal growth.
