Year 13 Dean’s Report

Andrea Cosgrove —

Tena koe, Kia orana, Talofa lava, Mālō e lelei, Bula, Nǐ hǎo, Namaste, Kumusta, Xin chào, Salaam Alaikum, peace be with you. Term 2 has been extremely busy with teaching and learning from home and then readjusting to learning back in the classroom. We are all looking forward to a much needed break.

Blood Donors

Thank you to the students who signed up and donated blood last week. The blood bank is very grateful to them as they are helping to save valuable lives in Aotearoa. So a big shout out to Caleb, Te Rama, Jordan, Jayton, Tyler, and Ethan, for giving back to the community.

NZQA

It is a positive move by the NZQA to make changes to help students achieve following the disruption to their learning caused by Covid-19. Please read Mr Goodfellows summary of changes included in this newsletter.

School Formal

This will be held on Friday 11 September and this year we are trying a new venue ‘Pemberton Gardens’ in Prebbleton. It is very popular this year and the formal committee is busy with preparations already. The theme is ‘Red Carpet' and tickets are $90 which covers the cost of a sit down meal, drinks, music, venue hire, security, photos, decorations and prizes. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about working to a budget and costing a function. To make payments easier, students can pay money weekly to Mrs Madsen, the Bursar, rather than having to pay a lump sum. It should be a wonderful night of dining and dancing.

Attendance

Please help your young adult with time management skills. School starts at 8.30am every day and there are too many students arriving late to school. If you haven’t got the school app, please download it so you can monitor your young person’s attendance. Students can only leave school at interval and lunch if they need to purchase food and all study periods except period 5 must be done in school. There are approximately 15 weeks until your young person’s secondary school education is over so we need to ensure that they get the qualifications they need for their future.

Any concerns or questions please contact me.

Thank you for your continued support.
