Year 7-9 Tīeke Dean's Report

Liisa Laycock —

Kia Ora, Talofa, Malo E Lelei, Kia Orana, Kamusta, Hei Haere Mai, Welcome

Welcome to 2021! Just over 2 weeks down and what an incredible start to the term! I have been proud to see our tamariki settle back into the swing of things and our ‘newbies’ find their feet within their learning spaces.

As we roll into the term, a reminder that all stationery, including chrome books (doubly important as we have begun the dreaded testing weeks), should be at school to support learning. If you find you are yet to do this or you have a concern, your child's wānanga teacher should be your first port of call and they will be able to assist you.

Additionally, school uniform should be sorted, including P.E. gear. For a clearer picture on uniform, jewellery, and hair, please see the link included.

Year 9 STARs head out this week to what is looking a little like a wet day to test their skills in raft building, rope climbing, and team work; a great introduction to our CARR values of resilience and achievement!

Our Year 7’s have begun our KiwiKaha programme where they discover their inner skills and strengths and are shown ways in which to apply them to activities, tasks and general day to day events.

Not to be left out, our Year 8’s are continuing to develop their leadership qualities and be role models for others.

Next week sees the very competitive Kāhui Athletics day. Students have opted into competitive or social events all gaining the first Kāhui points that are counted for the Kāhui cup at the end of the year. A highlight is the staff vs student relay race which is turning out to be an even more competitive race than the Americas Cup!

My money is on the staff this year………

Think I forgot my sports shoes that day…… ☺
