Technology - Year 9
The Year 9 technology "tree-house project" sponsored by Southern Woods will conclude at the end of this term.
First to finish their tree-house model is team Basty P and Charles B. They chose a New Zealand Mountain Beech grove, and mounted their house on stilts so as not to harm the roots or trunks of the trees. Note their rope ladder, slide, and wind and solar power outside, and inside (lift the roof), their beds, kitchen bench and lounge furniture. There are 12 more groups that are set to finish their "tree-houses" soon, so watch this space.... Note: A huge thank you to Southern Woods Tree Nursery for donating 42 Totara and Mountain Beech trees (valued at $20 each) for this innovative project. Other materials used were scrap plywood and cardboard, with hot glue and tools supplied by the Technical Department. Basty and Charles have their tree-house on display in the school's foyer.
