Singing and performance continues to be one of our strengths at Hornby High School.

All of our NCEA vocalists have achieved highly this year. We had another record amount of Excellences this year also. Go team.

Voices with Soul attended the “Voices Festival” in september which showcases contemporary vocal groups and choirs from the canterbury region.

Now a thriving team of 35 talented singers, including staff singers, Sarah Handley, Scott Aitken, Abi Keene, Luke Taylor and Albie Wilson and master accompanist Connor Matthews. We set off on our way to Papa Hou for a day of workshops before the evening performances. The workshops were presented by professional performers where we learnt about the biology of our voice, stage-craft and also the art form of acapella which was a group favourite!

After a busy afternoon we took up our sound check and prepared for our evening performance. The nights entertainment was wonderful and it was a fantastic atmosphere as all of the schools performing watched and cheered each other on. We performed two songs, “ Seasons Of Love” from Rent and “You Will be Found” from Dear Evan Hansen. This was our last festival with our wonderful Year 13’s, Shardey, Lavisha, Anna, Christina and Casey. I would like to thank them for their wonderful commitment to this group over the years and they will all be missed.
