Our trade evening started on a cold and blustery evening, but parents and students braved the weather and came along. A hot drink and biscuits helped with the cold.

We had Blair from Ara / Te Pukena, Brian from Vision College, and Daniel from the NZ Trades Academy (NZTA). A short speech from all of them explaining the trades they offer and how it works with schools. It was then time to look at the courses, ask questions and have a chance to chat to Blair, Brian and Daniel.

Dual enrolment provides students with a selection of trades to choose from for the year. They make a choice, attend one of the tertiary colleges for either one or two days a week and still attend school for the other days. Dual enrolment is about introducing students to their interest and possible careers while being at school.
