Year 13 Dean's Report

Honor Petrie —

Kia ora, Talofa, Hello.

Term 3 is as busy as ever! Trial exams, academic interviews, formal, tertiary study applications, preparations for NCEA and adapting to changes that the rebuild brings.

As we move closer to term 4, I would like to take this time to remind students about the importance of being organised. If your child does not have a system to organise their commitments, please take some time to speak with them about this. The transition from a paper world to a digital world has many benefits but it also brings challenges. One of those is managing files and calendars. I am having these discussions in academic interviews. It is important that our young adults find something that works for them. I have recommended that they print a schedule of assessments due, credits remaining, and examination times, that they display in their room or somewhere visible. It would be great if caregivers could check that this has happened.

FORMAL:

As you will be aware this year's formal is being held at The Showgate, Riccarton Park on Friday the 31st of August. This day is also a Teacher Only Day so students will not be at school. Students will be able to pick up tickets from the main office on Wednesday the 29th and Thursday the 30th. They must have permission slips for themselves and partners completed or tickets will be withheld. Please remind your child that this is a school event and school rules will apply. No alcohol is permitted and intoxicated persons will be removed from the premises.

PERSONAL UPDATE:

On a personal level, if you are not already aware, I am pregnant with our first child and will be due the 9th of December. Sam and I are thrilled and can not wait to bring a wee bundle of joy into this world. The timing could not have been any better! I am grateful that I have the opportunity to say my goodbyes to my extended family before having my own.

I look forward to catching up with many of you very soon,

Mrs Petrie
