Year 9 Dean's Report

Tony Palmer —

Nau mai, Haere mai. I trust everyone had a refreshing holiday and is ready for the new term.

The Year 9 students have settled into their routines well. They are showing some great skills that are upholding the school’s values. This has resulted in students receiving CARR certificates and assembly awards, sport awards and recognition for outstanding performance in a number of activities in Dean Hui on Thursday mornings.

The new school rebuild is progressing nicely and there will be changes to some classes next term. Toward the end of this term, some classes will be relocating ready for a new start in Term 3. The school will be closed for the rebuild on 4, 5, 6 July.

This term we have some exciting things happening. On Monday 21 May, a number of students will be building an artwork out of recycled plastic bottles. The gap filler will be in the centre of town . The STARS mentors will be working with the group of students. This is an optional activity for students so not all Year 9's will be attending. The 48 Hour film festival is held over the weekend 12-13 May for those involved.

We have a number of students arriving late, being truant and having unexplained absences. I have been sending out emails prior to the Friday reflection time to notify parents and students of the pending detention. I appreciate your parental support with this. Thank you.

Ngā mihi nui
