There was a great turnout of Hornby High School students for the Otago University visit. Our wonderful liaison coordinator, Greg, had students listening intently to explain all about the University and of course, Dunedin.

He also explained University Entrance and NCEA to the students thoroughly. He has been an ex-teacher and Deputy Principal in his career and knew the subject well and could answer our students’ questions.

The photo shows Greg in front of the screen with “Why University and Why Otago?” He came up with a lot of good reasons and not just the expected Health Sciences / Medical careers, which only Otago and Auckland Universities have at the present. Otago University has a solid Marine Biology Department that utilises Dunedin Harbour alongside Port Levy, which has a fully kitted laboratory out there and a shark cage for those keen marine students! Law, Business, relatively new Entrepreneur Business Degree…the list goes on.
