Year 7-9 Riroriro Dean's Report

Katie Tozer —

Kia ora koutou. I hope this newsletter finds you all safe and well.

What a busy start to 2021 we have had! I am so proud of all Riroriro students for consistently demonstrating our CARR values during the first few weeks of this term. It has been great getting to spend lots of time together during wānanga sessions.

A highlight of this term so far was the STARS day out organised by the Graeme Dingle Foundation. Year 9 students spent the day out of school completing team building challenges. We worked together to build rafts at the Roto Kohatu reserve. This involved learning how to tie knots correctly and using the materials to create a raft that could carry the whole team. Later in the day we went to the Groynes to try out the high ropes course. This was a big challenge for some students who really stepped out of their comfort zone. Our STARS mentors were awesome and I look forward to having them in class during wānanga time.

Upcoming events include athletics day, the 48 hour film festival, Polyfest, and an Arts evening, to name just a few.

Please don’t forget to keep looking at and commenting on your child(ren)’s blogs to see all of their awesome learning.

Ngā mihi,

Katie Tozer

Riroriro Kāhui Dean.
