Year 12 Dean’s Report

Chris McLaren —

Greetings, Kia ora, Talofa lava, Mālō e lelei, Bula, Nǐ hǎo,Namaste, Kumusta, Xin chào, Konnichi wa

Term one is already underway and it has been wonderful to see so many students return with the plan of completing Level 2 NCEA. Also, welcome to new students who have joined us.

For those students who have not yet got the 80 credits for Level 1, it will happen for you in 2019.

Today I watched many students receive certificates, badges and ties at the Academic Awards assembly, congratulations to them all. I hope that next year there will be even more students who are recognised for their efforts.

Level 2 is more challenging than Level 1 NCEA so it is so important that your young adults develop sound study skills. They will need to revise and go over the learning on a regular basis. Most of their learning will be available on their subject teachers' websites and therefore having a device is a must. They can have a laptop or chromebook but this year they absolutely need one if they are to gain NCEA Level 2.

I understand they are expensive but they are an investment in your child’s education and future. The Uru Mānuka Education Trust has a payment plan which works out at $4.22 per week. Please contact the school for more information.

I need your support in ensuring that your young person is learning ready every day,  coming to school on time, as the purpose is to learn and gain qualifications.

If you have any concerns or need help, please feel free to contact me. I only want the very best for each and every student in my care.

I am super excited about the learning journey we are all on this year.

Ngā mihi
