Another year and another great team of Star mentors!

Lucretia Treadgold —

The Graeme Dingle Foundation Stars programme helps strengthen young people during that tricky transition into secondary school, by training and supporting Year 12/13 students to mentor and walk alongside the new Year 9 students.

During the school holidays an amazing group of students took two days from their holidays to learn how to become great mentors. They learnt how to reflect on their own experiences starting high school and thinking about how they can make it easier for the new Year 9's. They learnt how to provide encouragement and support and how to give and receive constructive feedback. They will be fantastic mentors who will be trustworthy and caring role-models.
Special thanks to Hornby Club and to the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board for all your support, ensuring that the mentors have the training they need to develop their confidence, develop friendships, and become a great team. Thanks also to Hellers, who provided kai to fill their belly's during the two day training.
We look forward to an exciting year ahead Tukua kia tu takitahi nga whetu o te rangiLet each star in the sky shine its own light
Thanks heaps
