Tīeke Senior Newsletter

Oscar Richardson —

Kia Ora Koutou Whānau of Tīeke Kahui,

As I am writing the first newsletter of 2022 I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas, New Year, and summer break.

What a busy last few weeks we have had. I would like to say a huge thank you to all our ākonga (students) and whānau (family) who have made getting back into the year so easy and smooth, everyone has done a great job.

I would like to welcome our new Year 10’s who have moved into the senior school. Mrs Liisa Callard (Laycock) and I have tried to make the transition from the junior school to the senior school as smooth as possible. Our year 10’s are settling into the year very well.

Over the past few weeks our students have been throwing themselves into their new subjects of choice and for some starting NCEA for the first time. For our Year 11’s, this is a whole new experience with the goal of gaining the lucky number of 80 credits. Our Year 12’s are now in their second year of NCEA and are continuing to strive for the best while our Year 10’s are learning to find their passions and follow their interests before they move into NCEA.

To our students, please continue to be organized and respectful, and to keep working hard.

Tīeke students are focusing on following some of our simple school rules this term. They are doing an excellent job at wearing the proper uniform, with socks that cover their ankles and no non-regulation items. There has been huge improvement on getting to school before 8:35am but I would like to make a note to all whānau on helping our learners getting to school by this time as there is still a large number of students that are late every day.

If students are going to be late or absent could caregivers please take the time to email or ring in to student reception on:

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Ngā mihi
