Safe to talk – sexual harm helpline now available
A new 24/7 sexual harm information and support helpline called Safe to talk He pai ki te kōrero has launched for people in Canterbury. Anyone affected by sexual harm in any way can get in touch free by calling 0800 044 334, texting 4334, emailing support@safetotalk.nz or visiting www.safetotalk.nz . Webchat is available too. It’s free and completely confidential, you can say as little or much as you like. The service has started in Canterbury and goes live nationwide in April.
Eyesight Testing
If you have a valid/current Community Services Card or High Use Health Card, your child is 15yrs or under and you have concerns about their vision, you may be able to get the Spectacles Subsidy. This can help with the cost of your child’s:
- Vision test (although Specsavers do free vision testing if 15yrs or younger)
- Glasses (frames and lenses or repairs) or eye patches.
The most that can be paid is usually $287.50 (including GST) but the subsidy is available again after 12 months, if needed, for each child in your family who can receive the subsidy.
See Ministry of Health website below for more information:
Physio
