Year 10 Dean's Report

Annabelle Simpson —

Tēnā koutou katoa and welcome back to term two of 2019!

At the end of term one I was lucky enough to be appointed the acting Year 10 Dean until the end of 2019. This position oversees all Year 10 students with their academic, sporting and personal achievements. In addition, I will be ensuring that all students are upholding our CARR school values in their day to day lives.

This is my second year being a part of this wonderful school, and I look forward to it's challenges and triumphs. As well as being a Dean, I teach a range of different subjects this year including; Geography, Health and Physical Education and Year 7 & 8 Hurumanu classes.

I am involved in a range of sports played here at Hornby High School. This winter season I will be assisting Sam Hawkins in coaching the Senior A girls basketball team, I can not wait to see how great our girls play against the best in Canterbury!

For our Year 10 akonga this will be a hugely eventful term. Winter sports will be starting week three, on the 15th May. This year we have multiple teams entered in a range of different sports including; football, netball, hockey, rugby and basketball. These are usually played at Hagley Park on Wednesday afternoons, or at a range of High Schools around the City. We would love to see more parent support down on the courts/fields cheering on our athletes. Please be diligent in paying your son or daughters subs, these can be paid at the school office or as an online payment.

Coming up in week seven and eight of this term our Year 10 camp will take place at Boyle River, just outside of Hamner Springs. This is compulsory for all akonga to attend, and is a great opportunity for some innovative learning to take place outside the classroom. All camp forms have been handed out during form time last week. The information package outlines all you need to know about the camp (clothing list, cost, medical/dietary requirements). Please be prompt in getting these back to your tamariki’s form teacher before the 30th of May.

If you need to contact me for any reason please don't hesitate to email or call.
