Celebrating Our Diverse Cultures

Hornby High School is a vibrant tapestry of cultures, and this year's cultural events have indeed celebrated our diversity. Events like Polyfest, Mere Rang, Fili/Whanau Day, cultural speech competitions, language weeks and many others exemplify our cultural diversity across the school. These events showcase the incredible talents of our students and foster a strong sense of belonging and understanding within our school community.

Leading the Way in Student Support

We are incredibly proud to be recognised as the top school in New Zealand for Project K (Graeme Dingle Foundation). This achievement is a testament to our commitment to providing a safe and inclusive environment where every student feels supported to reach their full potential. Our dedicated staff go above and beyond to ensure that all students have access to the resources and guidance they need to thrive. A special thanks to Mrs K Wheeler, who has tirelessly worked in this space to support our young people.

Diving into New Opportunities

The recent opening of the Matatiki library and swimming pool has created a fantastic opportunity for our Year 7 and 8 students. We were thrilled to launch a new swimming programme that will not only develop essential water safety skills but also promote health and well-being. This is just one example of how Hornby High School continually seeks new ways to enhance our students' learning experiences.

Exciting times are ahead for Hornby High School! As we continue to grow and thrive, we're delighted to announce some major developments to further enhance our learning environment.

New Learning Spaces on the Horizon

To accommodate our expanding school community, a brand new 8-classroom block will be commenced in mid-2025! This learning space will provide our students with facilities fit for the 21st century. We can't wait to see these new classrooms come to life and provide even more opportunities for our students to flourish.

A Fresh Look for Our Auditorium

In addition to the new classroom block, we'll also be undertaking a significant upgrade of our auditorium. This project will include re-roofing to ensure the long-term integrity of the building and a range of upgrades to enhance the functionality and strengthening of the building in this important space. The auditorium is a central hub for school events, performances, and assemblies, and we're excited to provide our students and community with a revitalised space to gather and celebrate.
