Boyle River Outdoor Education Camp

Alan Kane —

Recently some of our Year 10 students went on camp at the Boyle River Outdoor Education Center in the Lewis Pass.

The students definitely showed the school values of Commitment and Resilence as the weather wasn't exactly kind to us. It was cold and it rained every day but it did get slightly better later in the week. Camps like this are the ideal way to develop the five key competencies that are required by the New Zealand curriculum. The students developed their Thinking, Using language skills, Managing oneself, Relating to others and Participating and contributing skills. Activities that promoted working as a team, using the different skills that all the people in the team have, were a major part of the camp's program. A huge thank you to the staff of BROEC for looking after of us all. A big thanks also to the staff of Hornby High School that went on camp for making it possible.

Here is a selection of photos from some of the camp activities.
