At the Year 7 & 8 Competition Hornby High School sent a team of 22 students to the Canterbury Athletics meeting which was held recently at Nga Puna Wai.

All students competed to the best of their ability showing great resilience.

Congratulations for an outstanding performance to Devon (Yr 7) who finished 2nd in the Year 7 Boys 60 metres and Kahurangi (Yr 8) for finishing 3rd in the Year 8 Boys 100 metres and 5th in the Discus.We sent eight students to the Canterbury Secondary Schools Athletics . This was held later than normal due to Covid. Once again we achieved some great results with most students achieving their personal best performance!Shontai (Yr 9) came in 19th in the 100m with a time of 15.44 sec and 11th in the Long Jump with a distance of 4.14 metres
Joshua (Yr 10) came in 12th in the 100m with a time of 12.98 sec and 7th in Discus with a throw of 20.90 metresCarl  (Yr 10) finished 9th in the 100m with a time of 12.86 sec and 5th in the Discus with a throw of 24.58 metres
Miguel (Yr 10) finished 7th in the 100m with a time of 12.55 sec
Aiden (Yr 12) finished 7th in the 400m with a time of 65.91 sec and 4th in the Triple Jump with a distance of 11.50 metres
Sophie (Yr 12) finished 5th in Javelin with a throw of 13.93 metres
Daisy (Yr 11) placed 2nd in the Javelin with a throw of 20.37 metres
Kyra-Lee (Yr 12) placed 2nd in the Javelin with a throw of 34.41 metres
