Yr 7/8 Te Reo Māori Students Create Hiwa-i-te-rangi Inspired Korowai
Over the past two weeks, our Year 7/8 Te Reo Māori students have been learning about Hiwa-i-te-rangi, the guiding star. In traditional Māori practice, Hiwa-i-te-rangi is the star to whom we send our moemoeā (dreams) for the year, helping guide us on the path to making them successful.
Our students have beautifully integrated this tradition into a collaborative project by creating a korowai (cloak) on which they have shared their dreams and hopes for Hornby High School and our community. This ātaahua (beautiful) korowai is the collective product of seven classes. Featured in the photo is ZmR.
Currently, this ātaahua creation is proudly on display in our main reception area.
