Year 7-9 Mōhua Dean's Report

Terry Mitchell —

Kia ora whānau

During most of this year we have been unable to hold regular Hui in our kāhui due to COVID restrictions, but as we have relaxed some of those restrictions we have recently started them up again, and we now hold a Hui every alternate Thursday. In our Hui I often talk to the students about our behaviour expectations, especially in relation to our school values of Commitment, Achievement, Resilience, and Respect. In the past few weeks I have introduced what I consider to be an overarching or “umbrella” value of Integrity. Integrity was defined by C.S Lewis (the author of ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’) as “doing the right thing, even if no one is watching”, and I challenge the students to show our school values at all times, even if no one is watching. Please reinforce this message at home, and remind your tamariki to practice our school values even when they are not at school, and even if no one is watching.
