Health Education 2018

Alex Aitken —

Kia Ora. 2018 saw many changes in the Health Department. Firstly, Mrs Merrin took on a new role at the Ministry of Education and Miss Aitken returned to the Health Department.

Mrs Petrie has ended the year on maternity leave to have her first child - we wish her all the best for motherhood. The Health classroom moved to P2 which gave us a new space that has worked really well.

The units covered in Health are essential, engaging and relevant to all students.

Topics covered in Health from Y9 to Y13 include: Mental Health, Drugs and Decision Making, Sexuality, Hauora, Relating To Others, Business and Enterprise, Resilience, Managing Change, National and International Health Issues, Personal Safety, International Health Issues, Ethical Issues and Health Promotion.

Miss Aitken and Mrs Petrie have been really impressed with the students in Health this year. The students have shown commitment to their learning and have been a pleasure to teach. This has been shown in the incredible work that has been produced and some of the grades that have been achieved. We hope to see you all back in the near future.
