Kiwi Can

Lucretia Treadgold —

Last year at Hornby High School for our community project we helped the students plant a native bush at the back of the sports field.

It has since been left and weeds have started to take over so this year we got the students to help make a start at mulching the area to hold back the weeds and give the native plants a chance to grow and make the school look even more beautiful.

It was hard work so we made it into a little competition between the Kāhui giving a small reward for the best effort. There was one very clear winner. There is so much more work yet to be done to give the plants a chance, we have only just scratched the surface but every little bit helps.
