An adventure camp for you and your child
Parenting Place is excited to bring you Tī Kōuka – the ultimate adventure weekend for parents and their pre-teens. Tī Kōuka – cabbage trees – have been used by Māori for generations to navigate the changing landscape, and that’s what this parent-child experience is all about.
Over the course of a weekend, parents and their 10-12 year olds will be supported to navigate the changing landscape of their relationship and the changing landscape of the adolescent years.
Most of us don’t look forward to talking about puberty, technology, drugs, alcohol or self-esteem with our kids. We know it’s really important, but it’s difficult to find the right moment, or even know where to start. That’s why Tī Kōuka is so great. You make the time, and we create the space, start the conversation, and give you the tools to make it a memorable experience for all the right reasons.

Tī Kōuka is hosted by Parenting Place’s team of expert communicators and youth workers who have a reputation for making information engaging and entertaining. There will be challenging and fun activities, good food, great chats and the chance for you and your child to strengthen your relationship.

Cost –
We are pleased to now be able to offer attendance to Tī Kōuka at just $200 per pair. This includes accommodation, meals, professional facilitators and all adventure activities The actual cost of the camp is closer to $500 per pair, but through funding we are able to make it slightly more accessible for everyone. However, we never want cost to be a barrier and we’d love you to join us, so if you’re unable to contribute this amount, please get in touch. If you are able to make a further donation towards covering outstanding costs or supporting others to attend, please let us know.
