After a successful South Island tournament earlier this year, the senior boy's volleyball team backed up with a gold medal win in the Canterbury Champs Senior Boy's as divisional champions. It has been a long process for our senior boy's to qualify for the premiere division and now after a successful year Hornby High School will be competing in the top division next year.

Under the coaching guidance of ex Hornby High School student Matthew Stephens and Uai Liu the senior boys' team battled through a tough semi-final against Papanui High School before eventually beating out Shirley Boys' High School in a tough four set match. The boys showed outstanding resilience throughout the finals after being down by more than 8 points and then rallying together to win the sets in both the semi finals and finals. It was a great display of teamwork, resilience, and commitment, by the whole team. Matthew was named MVP of the tournament showing great leadership throughout the weekend along with his exceptional skill.
