Year 11 Dean's Report

Laurie Tafau —

Kia Ora Koutou. Term 3 is well and truly under way, and it has already raised some highlights, some proud moments, from within the cohort.

It has been great to see some of our Year 11 cohort take the up and coming opportunity to attend the Next Steps Camp, which departs today. This is a great chance for those students to have some early leadership training, and to get some experience going forward into the senior school.

I have also been so impressed with the coaching that the Level 1 PE students are involved in, which runs on a Friday afternoon. It is wonderful to see the effort, and the role-modelling, that is taking place, and I encourage any parents or caregivers to come down to watch them in action if you get a chance.

As I have already told the students, this term is packed full of credits and events, which will make for a very busy, and hopefully fun, time at school. It is important that attendance remains high, to continue to help towards the success at NCEA Level 1. If you do have any questions or concerns about anything related to credits and NCEA, please do not hesitate to get in contact with me at any time and I am happy to meet with you and discuss these issues.

Finally, over the next few weeks option choices for 2021 will start being discussed (I cannot believe we are already at that stage of the year!), so it is time to start having those conversations at home and checking in with students about their plans and how they see Year 12 looking for them.

Once again, if you would like a chat or meeting about anything, please do not hesitate to contact me,

Ngā mihi,

Laurie Tafau
